Brow Care at Home

Brows on fleek! Currently it is one of the best compliments a person can get. Brows are one of the first things people see, as they define your whole face. They also have a big impact on how your makeup will look. For many, the high temperatures mean wearing as little makeup as possible. In addition to a little lip-gloss, mascara and tinted moisturizer, perfectly arched eyebrows help complete your look. Current times have made brow care at home an essential yet, at times challenging task. To make it easier for you, we have compiled some tips to make brow care at home as easy as possible.

Tweezing

Though many would like to leave this to the professionals, it can be done at home. To begin, ensure the area is clean and dry. To ease the pain, tweeze after you have taken a shower so that hair comes out easier. Next, you want to take things slow and pluck no more than two hairs at a time in the direction of your hair growth. It is super easy to take too many at a time. Take the time to step back and evaluate how things are looking along the way. After you are done, apply a gentle toner or aloe vera gel to soothe the skin.

Alignment

It is super important to know the shape of your natural eyebrow! If you have never attempted to figure out the natural shape, it is not that hard to complete a brow map. It is also useful to know where your brows need growth, where there is excess hair can be removed and where you need to fill in.

  1. To find where your brows begin, use a pencil and place it on the side of your nose, holding it at an angle towards the inner corner of your eye. The place where the pencil edge meets the brow line is your beginning point.
  2. To find your arch, hold the pencil on the side of your nose, straight up over the eye. Where the pencil hits your brow bone is your arch.
  3. The last step is to place your pencil on the edge of your nose and align with the outer corner of your eye to locate the end of your eyebrow.

Keep in mind that the “golden rule” is to shape your brows opposite to the shape of your face. Therefore, if you have a long face, you should go for a low-lying arch and straight, elongated brows to add width to your face.

Use Good Lighting

Ample lighting is essential to a great the best possible brow job completed at home. You definitely don’t want to be tweezing and arching in dim lighting. When possible take advantage of natural light coming into your area and make the room as bright as possible. Take advantage of your handheld mirror by carrying it to a well-lit area to ensure you get all the tiny hairs plucked.

Fill in spaces

At some point, it happens to us all that we get a little too “pluck-happy.” First, know that you are not alone! Second, know that you can easily fill in any sparse spots! This can be done with either a brow powder and angled brush or you can use a pencil. To finish you can get all the hairs in place with a brow mascara. These come in both clear and tinted.

We all want our brows to look great, but caring for your them at home doesn’t have to be a dreaded challenge. Have fun with it and get fancy! Use a highlighter to add some dimension or use a bright eyeshadow to make them pop! If you don’t get it exactly right the first time, keep trying. Before you know it, you will have the perfect arch in no time.
